It Takes A Village Community Outreach and Advocacy (ITAVCOA) is a Nova Scotia–based not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing equity, economic stability, and community resilience within African Nova Scotian and Black communities.
ITAVCOA primarily serves communities in North Preston, East Preston, Cherry Brook, Lake Loon, Hammonds Plains, Beechville, Lucasville, Dartmouth, Halifax, Spryfield, and Sackville, including Black immigrants and refugees. Needs African Nova Scotian and Black communities continue to face systemic barriers in income security, digital access, food security, and health outcomes. These disparities have been compounded by economic instability, rising food costs, and limited access to culturally responsive services.

ITAVCOA operates with strong community trust, cultural competency, and lived experience leadership, ensuring programs are responsive and outcome-driven.
Improved food security and reduced hunger-related stress. Increased digital literacy and access to technology among seniors and low-income residents.
